March Madness Rules and Regulations

The rules will be the same as last year (for those of you that have been in it before).  The pool will be run the same as last year, with all picks submitted via internet entry. Live reports will be available from the site where you made the entry. Reports will be updated daily on the FVBrewer website. There will be a link to the reports on the home page. The pool will be run completely on the internet. In order to do this, there is a separate login page for the entries that will be used.

  1. Picks will be entered in the online bracket. There is a link at the bottom of this page to the entry page. All reports and updates will be available from the log-in page and are updated as the games complete.

  2. Each player MUST come up with a nickname to use as their "handle". Pool names are limited to 17 characters, including spaces. Surnames or initials are boring and don't add to the unique nature of "The Pool". I will change any nickname that resembles a surname or initials, so don't get offended if you choose to challenge this rule. Use your imagination and give the rest of us something to laugh about. Don't forget to enter your actual name in the space marked "Real Name". Without this information, I won't know who is who.

  3. Multiple entries may be made, as long as different pool names are used.

  4. This year there will be 68 teams in the tournament, with eight teams playing in a the "first" round. These games will NOT be included in our pool.  The games are shown as "Play-In Winner" on the bracket.

  5. Points will be accumulated for each correct pick based on the round as follows: Round 2: 1 point; Round 3: 2 points; Sweet 16: 3 points; Elite 8: 5 points; Semi-Finals: 8 points; Finals: 13 points.

  6. Enter picks for each game and the TOTAL points that you think will be scored in the Championship Game for the tie breaker.

  7. All picks must be entered prior to the start of the first game on Thursday, March 19th.

  8. A $5 entry fee is due before 5 PM on Thursday or postmarked with Thursday's date. No exceptions!!!  Sorry, no credit allowed. Entries without fees received or postmarked by Thursday, March 19th, may be removed from the pool. Extremely creative excuses may be considered at the pool coordinator's discretion.

As in previous years, you can pay by credit card if you wish. There is a link below to make your payment via PayPal. There is a small fee for the PayPal service of 2.9% ($0.15 per pick) plus $0.30, which is added to the entry fee, but it's safer than the mail! You may pay for multiple picks at the same time, just enter the quantity of picks that you are paying for on the PayPal page and don't forget to hit the "UPDATE" link or it will only charge for one pick.  You can also use Venmo (@Jim-DeLuca-1) or Zelle (7146147294) to save the fees.
